Introduction of Organization (e.g., activities and objective):
Taitung Dawn Artist Village was established in 2012 at the Taitung Sugar Factory by a self-organized collective of artists, dedicated to promoting art and culture in Taiwan’s eastern region. In 2014, the village relocated to Hualien and, in 2016, moved into an Amis indigenous community until now.

The artist village focuses on Austronesian indigenous crafts and arts, as well as addressing ecological and social issues in eastern Taiwan. By connecting international contemporary art with contemporary indigenous art, it aims to serve as a hub for exchanges between domestic and international artists in Taiwan’s eastern region.

Rich in natural and indigenous cultural resources, Taitung Dawn Artist Village actively collaborates with indigenous communities and craft studios in eastern Taiwan. These efforts provide domestic and international artists with an immersive understanding of Taiwan’s Austronesian indigenous culture, fostering mutual learning and exchange.
